Anne Charlotte Robertson (1949 – 2012) was a Boston-area based experimental filmmaker who used her intimate personal life as subject to produce a large and distinctive body of Super 8 film. Although she was celebrated as an artist in her lifetime, only today is Robertson finally being acknowledged as an influential pioneer of the first-person diary cinema. Robertson’s self-produced films offer a bold answer to ongoing discussions around the value of art as a therapeutic and destigmatising tool. The diary is essentially every film she’s made: “Magazine Mouth” (1983), for example  are sometimes included in presentations of the diary.

Anne Charlotte Robertson wrote about “Magazine Mouth”: Folly of American consumer bingeing, animated with photos and patriotic band music.
