The director of "Aquarela". Director, writer, cinematographer, editor. He began his career as assistant cameraman, assistant director and editor at the St. Petersburg (Leningrad) Studio of Documentaries at 1978. He studied Script writing and directing in Moscow 1986-1989. In 1993 his feature "Belovy" ("The Belovs") won both the VPRO Joris Ivens Award and the Audience Award at the IDFA. Since then he made ten films and won over hundred awards. He is the member of European Film Academy and The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences OSCAR.
