Discussion with Letizia Battaglia and Roberto Timperi after the screening of “Shooting the Mafia” by Kim Longinotto
In Polish and Italian
Letizia Battaglia is one of Italy’s preeminent photographers. Her black-and-white documentation of the violence of the Sicilian mafia served to starkly illuminate the brutality of those times and shattered the romantic image of the mafia. Shooting the Mafia is a multifaceted portrait of the famous Italian artist: archival footage and frank discussions are intercut with her black-and-white photos. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Battaglia and her partner Roberto Timperi, also a photographer. A special exhibition of their works will be held at the rotunda of the Iluzjon cinema during the festival.
