Chat with director and mountaineer Dariusz Załuski after the screening of "The Last Mountain"
Language: Polish
Partner institution: Katowice Alpine Club
The 2018 national winter expedition to K2 was heard of well beyond the escalade aficionado circles. The climbers’ struggle with the 29-thousand-feet mountain was followed by millions of spectators who, thanks to social media, could catch a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes of the expedition. While all that was taking place, Tomasz Mackiewicz and Élisabeth Revol made a successful attempt of winter ascent of Nanga Parbat. Regrettably, the endeavour ended tragically for Mackiewicz. Revol, on the other hand, was only rescued thanks to the heroic action undertaken by K2 expedition members Adam Bielecki and Denis Urubko. We will hear about the winter in Karakorum, the technicalities of the expedition, and the details of the rescue mission from Dariusz Załuski, expedition member, K2 ascender, and director of "The Last Mountain". Alina Markiewicz will be your host and moderator.
