Kobro / Strzemiński. A Fantastic Tale
Nothing in this film is the way it had happened; this nonoccurrence is intentional. Creating scores of situations which had never taken place is a thoroughly considered action – or if not thoroughly, then at least considered, in any case. To what end? So that, having seen the events which hadn’t taken place, you could draw your own conclusions about the events which had, in essence letting all of you – the audience – become Real Detectives.
While ”Kobro / Strzemiński” is a debate with biographism as a way of perceiving art, it also points out that biographism is inescapable.
The filmmakers ask: what’s left of avant-garde strategies today? They examine an avant-garde project that didn’t survive its confrontation with real life – but they also appreciate the value of avant-garde attitudes of overcoming obstacles in life and letting your imagination roam beyond what others see as an impassable horizon.
