“Why does no one ever ask me, if there was love in the Ghetto? Why does no one seem interested in it?”, commented Marek Edelman soon before passing away back in 2009. The last commander of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising now answers that question through the much-anticipated film by Jolanta Dylewska. How was it possible that there were love and beauty within the infernal reality of the Ghetto? And erotism too? We will discuss all that with Michał Bojanowski, editor-in-chief of Chidusz Jewish magazine published in Wrocław since 2013, aiming to strengthen the identity of the Jewish community in Poland, and supply Polish readers with reliable information on Jewish culture, religion and history. We are going to have a look back at Edelman’s feats and heritage, and the post-war reality of Jews in Wrocław and all of Poland.
