Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival is the largest documentary film festival in Poland. It is the only film festival in Europe which takes place in six different cities at the same time (Warsaw, Gdynia, Wrocław, Lublin, Bydgoszcz and – starting 2019 – Katowice).
In May 2019 we invited you for the 16th time to travel all around the world and inside ourselves. We presented 160 non-fiction films, all of which reveal and trigger what is most important in cinema and in real life as well: emotions.
CHECK WHETHER YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORLD AND WHETHER THE WORLD UNDERSTANDS YOU
- that's the key phrase of the festival. In our programme, one may find films referring to the most current topics of the modern world. Each year, the presented films cover numerous fields, be it politics, society, psychology, science, sport, art, architecture or fashion.
12 years ago our festival was the first one in Poland to introduce a competition for the best full-length documentary (the Millennium Grand Prix Award). In 2009 our festival received the prestigious Polish Film Institute award for "the most important international film event" in Poland. The festival was nominated yet again in the same category in 2013.
Thanks to Millennium Docs Against Gravity, watching documentary films became popular in Poland, and they arouse wide audience interest ever since, which is the result of a consequently developed, attractive festival programme.
Millennium Docs Against Gravity is a co-founder and member of the Doc Alliance network, which brings together seven key European documentary film festivals: CPH: DOX Copenhagen, DOK Leipzig, IDFF Jihlava, FID Marseille, Visions du Réel Nyon, Doclisboa and, last but not least, Millennium Docs Against Gravity.
The 16th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival took place May 10-19 in Warsaw, Wrocław and Lublin, May 15-24 in Gdynia, May 12-19 in Katowice and May 11-19 in Bydgoszcz.
