Debate: Will humans destroy life on Earth? Can our planet still be saved? after the screening of “Anthropocene: The Human Epoch” by Jennifer Baichwal, Nicholas de Pencier and Edward Burtynsky

We’re going to discuss the anthropocene – an epoch where significant human impact shapes the Earth, causing irreversible environmental changes. Do we have enough time to save life on Earth as we know it? If yes, then how? We’ll try to answer these questions and more, debating on the impact of our daily choices and activities, as well as the necessity of pushing the governments and legislators to carry out their duties as defined by Article 74 of the Polish Constitution with regard to protecting the environment.

Moderator:
Katarzyna Karpa-Świderek – spokeswoman of WWF Poland, specialist on climate change. Formerly associated with the Academy for the Development of Philanthrophy in Poland and the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. Lecturer at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, TV journalist, debate moderator.

Guests:
Andrzej Kassenberg – co-founder of the Institute for Sustainable Development and the Polish Foundation for Energy Efficiency, had chaired the ISD for 24 years. Kassenberg became involved with the environmental movement in 1980. His research into sustainable development currently focuses on energy policy and climate protection.

Monika Sadkowska – actress, culturologist, climate activist. Co-organizer of Camp Climate, associated with the Development YES – Open-Pit Mines NO Foundation.

Jan Ciemniewski – representative of the Youth Climate Strike movement.
