director of the film "Normal". Adele Tulli is a filmmaker and an academic interested in documentary experimental practices, as well as in gender studies and visual anthropology. In 2018 she has completed a practice-based PhD at Roehampton University in London, exploring subversive film aesthetics within queer and feminist contexts. She has directed award-winning films such as 365 without 377, about the struggles of the LGBT community in India, and Rebel Menopause, on feminist activist Thérèse Clerc.

A member of Krzysztof Warlikowski’s ensemble, she also starred in movies by Peter Greenaway, Andrzej Wajda, and Jerzy Skolimowski. Buzek’s roles won her several of Poland’s main film awards. Recently we’ve had the opportunity to admire her in Anne Fontaine’s The Innocents. In addition to playing Kobro herself, Buzek performs all female roles in Kobro / Strzemiński: Gaia Giving Birth, Eleonora, Fanny Kaplan, Clara Haber, and Nurse.

National Geographic Best Photo Competition juror. Editor-in-chief of National Geographic Poland, National Geographic Traveler, and Kaleidoscope. Graduate of the Faculty of Geology at the University of Warsaw. Her interests include history, traveling, and photography. Szydłowska thinks life is pointless without art; that’s why she promotes cultural events, interviews artists, and tries to encourage as many people as possible to make culture a part their daily lives.

Seconded to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia from 1994 to 1996. Prosecuted Ratko Mladić in 2001.

One of the directors of „ISIS. The Lost Souls of Mosul”. Photographer. His photos are on the pages of prime international newspapers: Time Magazine, International Herald Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, L'Espresso, Der Spiegel, Paris Match, and Stern. His work focuses on wars and migratory phenomena. He portrayed the Arab Springs before devoting himself to the Syrian conflict. He was one of the first photographers who documented the protests against Bashar al Assad’s regime and then the war in Syria.

The director of "Home Games". An award-winning Ukrainian director. After a student first film, "Sister Zo", her feature-length documentary "Alisa in Warland" about the war in Eastern Ukraine was premiered in 2015 at IDFA Amsterdam in the First appearance competition. In 2018, Alisa released "Home Games", selected in 30 festivals such as Sheffield Doc/Fest, IDFA Amsterdam, Fipadoc Biarritz, Tempo Stockholm, Docpoint Helsinki, One World Prague.

co-director of the film „Meeting Gorbachev”. André Singer has had a long and distinguished career as both filmmaker and anthropologist. In the former capacity he originally worked for Granada Television in the UK making films for World in Action and Disappearing World. For the BBC, he founded the documentary series "Fine Cut" (which later became Storyville) where he met and worked as either an Executive or Producer with many leading filmmakers such as Jean Rouch; Fred Wiseman, D A Pennebaker and Vikram Jayanti, and where he first linked up with Werner Herzog by commissioning "Lessons of Darkness".

The director of "Transnistra". She was born in 1983 in Sweden. Her debut feature length and self edited documentary, Pine Ridge, was selected in the Official Selection at the Venice International Film Festival 2013 and won best Nordic documentary at the International Film festival in Gothenburg in 2014.

Born 1970 in Zurich, Switzerland, Barbara Miller holds a first degree in law and an undergraduate degree in film studies, philosophy and psychology from the University of Zurich. As an assistant director and editing assistant she worked on Christian Frei’s documentary "War Photographer" for two years. Since has been a freelance documentary filmmaker since 2001.

The protagonist of "The Panama Papers". Investigative reporter with the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for his work on exposing the Panama Papers scandal.

The protagonist of the film "The Dispappearance of My Mother". Benedetta Barzini is an Italian actress and model, daughter of Italian journalist and author Luigi Barzini, Jr. and his first wife, heiress Giannalisa Feltrinelli. As such, she is the stepsister of Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, the Italian publisher and left-wing political activist.

The director of "The Disappearence of my Mother". Born in 1986, Beniamino Barrese graduated with a degree in Philosophy at Statale di Milano, International Political Economy at King’s College London and later received his MA in Cinematography at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, UK. Since 2011 he has been working as a filmmaker, director of photography and photographer. His work as a DP includes fiction and documentary features, commercials, fashion films, music promos and short films, which have travelled around festivals worldwide.

The director of "Architecture of Infinity". Born in 1958, Christoph produces his first films at the film production company Zürcher Videoladen. They show in particular the world of experience of a young political filmmaker. Christoph gives up his German studies, when his cinematic career as a director begins to shape in the early eighties. He develops the skills independently. He steadily gains experience by assisting in directing, camera and editing.

The director of „The Last Mountain”. Mountaineer, Himalayan climber, filmmaker, participant of over a dozen Polish expeditions to the Himalaya and Karakoram ranges, 8 of which in winter. He claimed five 8,000ers: K2 (8,611 m), Mount Everest (8,848 m) twice, Lhotse (8,516 m), Cho Oyu (8,201 m), and Gasherbrum II (8,035 m) twice. Author of numerous movies, mostly about the mountains; winner of many awards at mountaineering film festivals in Poland and abroad.

The protagonist of the film "#Female Pleasure". Doris Wagner, who grew up in a devout Protestant-Catholic family in Bavaria, joined a convent at the age of 19. Here she has experienced sexual abuse and has been fighting double standards and sexual assault within the Catholic Church ever since.

Amnesty International Poland Competition juror. Graduate of the University of Warsaw’s Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights’ School of Human Rights, and the Leadership Academy for Poland, she took the helm of Amnesty International Poland in 2007. Member of the Programming Council of the Zachęta National Gallery of Art in 2013-2016. In 2014, the President of Poland awarded her the Gold Cross of Merit. Nadażdin focuses on human rights issues, culture, art, civic liberties, and social campaigns. The fight for human rights is her mission and way of life.

One of the directors of "Soyalism".  An Italian-American filmmaker, who has lived in U.K, Brazil, U.S. and studied filmmaking in Spain. His documentary "Standing Army" was aired by 15 televisions and released in Japanese movie theaters. His short films won numerous film festivals and "Zewdu the street child" is listed as a Vimeo’s “Staff-picks”. His documentary “Container 158” was presented at the Rome film festival and later won two awards for best documentary. His docuseries filmed on the island of Stromboliis aired by SKY ARTE TV.

The director of "Warsaw: a city divided". Director/writer born in Halifax, Canada. He lives and works in Warsaw. Bednarski studied history and filmmaking in North America and Europe. His documentary film work with the National Film Board of Canada has garnered him a Gemini Award and a Writers Guild of Canada Award nomination, and he was awarded the Decoration of Honour “Meritorious for Polish Culture” by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2015.

The director of "Compulsory figures". Ewa Kochańska was born in Cracow. Graduated from the Faculty of Theatrology at the Jagiellonian University and Directing Department of Warsaw Film School. Equally important for her personal development has been the involvement in the scouting movement. She is a director, scriptwriter and experienced drama teacher working with youth and children. Her film etudes shown at festivals in Poland and abroad received several awards.

The director of "Diagnosis". Born in 11.11.1981, she has graduated from the National Film School in Łódź (PWSFTviT) as well as University of Łódź majoring in film theory and journalism (MA Degree). She has a l s o g r a d u a t e d f r o m DOK P RO, a documentary program at Wajda School. Her short film LOVE was released on DVD with the best school films.

The director of "The Time Of Forests". He studied anthropology and political science. He works and lives in the center of France. Acouphènes (White noise, 2004), L'initiation (Initiation, 2008), Au nom du coach (The coach machine, 2012), La chasse au Snark (The hunting of the Snark, 2013), Des bois noirs (2016).

co-diterctor of the film "Land without God". Gerard Mannix Flynn is an acclaimed playwright, artist, author and performer. Born in Dublin, he is one of the most provocative and eloquent literary voices at work in Ireland today. His work deals with issues around institutional abuse, imprisonment, violence, child sexual abuse, addiction, and injustice. In addition to his work as an award-winning actor, writer, and playwright, Gerard is also an elected member of Dublin City Council.

One of the directors of „Dicktatorship”. Gustav Hofer was born in 1976 in Sarnthein (South Tyrol, Italy). After his studies in Communication Science at the University of Vienna and Cinema at Middlesex University in London, he moved to Rome. He works as a freelance journalist and independent filmmaker and for the French-German broadcaster Arte as a correspondent from Italy.

The director of „I Hate New York”. Gustavo Sánchez is a journalist and filmmaker who lives in Barcelona. At age 7, Sánchez began his path in journalism at a Radio, hosting his own radio program, which earned him the recognition of being the youngest radio host in Spain. Since then he has interviewed hundreds of people who work in music and film, and from the worlds of Spanish and international culture, for different media.

Main Competition juror. Polak graduated from the cinematography department at Moscow’s VGIK film school under the guidance of eminent cinematographer Vadim Yusov, who worked with Andrei Tarkovsky and other renowned Russian directors. In 2003 Polak received the Bolesław Chrobry Best Producer Prize at the Krakow Film Festival. A year later her “The Children of Leningradsky” was nominated for the Academy Award as well as for two Emmy categories, winning the International Documentary Award and a number of other prizes.

Co-director and co-producer of the film „The Trial of Ratko Mladić”. Henry Singer is one of Britain's most critically acclaimed documentary directors. He has won or been nominated for every major British documentary award, including the BAFTA, Royal Television Society, Grierson, Broadcast, Broadcasting Press Guild, the Televisual as well as the Emmy, and his films have been screened at festivals around the world. Among his prize-winning feature length films are 'The Falling Man' about a photograph of someone who jumped or fell from the World Trade Center on 9/11.

The director of Eisenberger – "Art Must Be Beautiful, As The Frog Says To The Fly". Hercli Bundi was born in 1964 in Glarus. From 1988 to 1992 he studied film directing and producing at the Ecole cantonale d'art in Lausanne. Together with Vadim Jendreyko he founded in 2002 the production company Mira Film. From 2007 to 2010 he worked in addition as a producer at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste / Master of Arts in Films. As a director Hercli Bundi is interested in the interface between society and art.

The director of "Hi, A.I". A documentary filmmaker from Munich. She studied film at the University of Television and Film Munich and she has an MA in Slavic Studies and American Studies. Isa spent one year in New York City, on a Fulbright scholarship, enrolling in film and sociology programs at the New School University. In 2010, she started researching the Constructivist buildings, while she lived in Moscow on a scholarship by the DAAD.

The director of WHERE WE BELONG. Jacqueline Zünd was born in Zurich, Switzerland where she studied journalism at the Ringier School of Journalism. She then moved to London to study film at the London Filmschool. After her studies she worked two years for ZEBRA, a pop culture program for Swiss National Television before moving to Rome where she lived and worked in the Swiss Institute for two years. Back in Switzerland she started to work on her first feature length documentary. GOODNIGHT NOBODY (2010) has been shown at many film festivals worldwide and won numerous awards such as Best Newcomer at Visions du Réel and a special mention at DOK Leipzig.

Amnesty International Poland Competition juror. Film scholar, columnist, writer. Majmurek’s focus is film criticism, but he also writes on literature and visual arts. Graduate of film studies in Krakow and the Jagiellonian University’s Faculty of International and Political Studies, he also studied at the School of Social Sciences affiliated with the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. His articles appear in “Tygodnik Powszechny”, “Gazeta Wyborcza”, “Oko.press”, “Aspen Review”, and other publications.

Chopin’s Nose Competition juror, substituting for the director of the National Audiovisual Institute, Dariusz Wieromiejczyk. Programming expert at the National Audiovisual Institute. Part-time culture writer with the “Tygodnik Powszechny” and “Przekrój” magazines, his articles also appeared in “Polityka”, “Machina”, “Wprost” and other periodicals. Former reporter of the Program Drugi radio station. Author of “The Dom. Nowojorska bohema na polskim Lower East Side” [“The Dom. New York bohemians at the Polish Lower East Side”].

Director of the film "Heartbound". Janus Metz is an internationally recognised and award-winning filmmaker. His latest film, Borg vs McEnroe (2017), was the opening film at last year's Toronto International Film Festival and has been distributed to cinemas all over the world. His documentary Armadillo (2010), received the Grand Prix of the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival and a number of additional awards, including an Emmy for best editing and a Grierson Award and a nomination at the European Film Awards. Armadillo was screened at cinemas in 18 countries and sold the most cinema tickets for three consecutive weeks in Denmark. Metz has a Master's Degree in visual anthropology and his work also includes art films, commercials and music videos. In 2015, he directed an episode of the HBO series True Detective (2015), with Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn. At present, Metz is producing the series ZeroZeroZero for Amazon Studios with cast members Dane Dehaan, Andrea Riseborough and Gabriel Byrne.

producer of the film "Piano to Zanskar". Jarek Kotomski is an internationally renowned photographer working across commercial and editorial fields. Frequently commissioned by the biggest-selling polish travel magazine ‘Podroze’, he travelled all over the world and published photo essays accompanied with his own copy visiting Chernobyl, Mongolia, Siberia, Israel, Colombia, Mexico to name just few. “Piano to Zanskar” is his debut feature film, but as the co-founder of Between Friends he has over three years of experience in the production of commercial videos and musical documentaries, his latest project being “Scriabin in the Himalayas” (currently in post-production), which became the highest publicly attended piano concert in history.

The director of " Symphony of the Ursus factory". Artivist, visual artist, director, academic and pre-school teacher. Since 2011, author and initiator of a multidisciplinary operations on the border of art and social activism with the former workers of the Ursus tractor factory including i.a. site-specific activities in the public space, social and artistic actions, performance, happenings, independent films and the full- length creative documentary Symphony of The Ursus Factory (Film Award, The Polish Film Institute, Museum of Modern Art and Wajda School Film).

Co-director of the film "Anthropocene: The Human Epoch". Jennifer Baichwal has been directing and producing documentaries for over 20 years. Her films have played all over the world and won multiple awards nationally and internationally, including an International Emmy, three Gemini Awards and Best Cultural and Best Independent Canadian Documentary at Hot Docs, for features such as Let It Come Down: The Life of Paul Bowles, The Holier It Gets, Act of God, and Payback. Manufactured Landscapes won, among others, a Genie, TIFF’s Best Canadian Film and Al Gore’s Reel Current Award. It played theatrically in over 15 territories worldwide, and was named as one of “150 Essential Works In Canadian Cinema History” by TIFF in 2016. The feature documentary Watermark premiered at TIFF 2013, and won the Toronto Film Critics Association prize for Best Canadian Film. It has since been released in eleven countries.

A graduate of the movie direction department at the University of Silesia’s Faculty of Radio and Television, she studied under the guidance of Andrzej Wajda, Wojciech Marczewski, and other eminent Polish filmmakers. Bielawska directed a number of feature films and documentaries screened and recognized in Poland and abroad.

Green Warsaw Competition juror. Works with the World Wide Fund for Nature Poland. With 18 years of experience in the media and public relations, Kukielska coordinates communication between WWF’s nature initiatives and oversees social and educational campaigns organized by the foundation. For the last 5 years Kukielska has been in charge of encouraging citizens across Poland to turn their lights out for Earth Hour, the world’s biggest environmental campaign.

Director of the film "Dancing for You". Born in 1985 in Warsaw. Graduated from Applied Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw in 2012. She is currently a 5th year student of film directing at the National Film School in Lodz, working on her diploma movie ‘Sashka’, based on a short novel written by Etgar Keret.

Krishan Arora is a producer and documentary consultant. He was previously at the BBC in London for ten years, first as Commissioning Editor and then as the Independents Executive, responsible for the BBC’s strategic relationship with the Indie sector across all genres. He also worked in France for three years as a programming exec for Arte. He moved into producing after starting as a documentary director.

Main Competition juror. Born in 1974 in Tehran, Iran. In 2001 she started working in the international section of the Documentary & Experimental Film Center (DEFC). Since then she’s been translating movie scripts, promoting and distributing Iranian films abroad, and participating in many film festivals (sometimes sitting on the jury) and international markets. In 2008 she became a festival programmer and selection commitee member with Cinema Verite – Iran International Documentary Film Festival.

Green Warsaw Competition juror. Director of the Infrastructure Department at the Warsaw City Office, Drogosz is in charge of maintaining and securing the supply of power, heat, gas, water, and waste treatment in Warsaw. He also handles climate protection issues. Professionally associated with the capital of Poland for the entirety of his career, Długosz had been managing and overseeing numerous municipal institutions, including public transport, water management, waste management, and heating. Participates in several EU-funded projects on sustainable and responsible cities.

Protangonist of the film "Shooting the Mafia” by Kim Longinotto. Letizia Battaglia is one of Italy’s preeminent photographers. Her black-and-white documentation of the violence of the Sicilian mafia served to starkly illuminate the brutality of those times and shattered the romantic image of the mafia. "Shooting the Mafia" is a multifaceted portrait of the famous Italian artist.

One of the directors of „Dicktatorship”. Luca Ragazzi was born in 1971 in Rome and graduated in Literature and Philosophy at Rome’s University La Sapienza. He works as a journalist, film critic, photographer and independent filmmaker.

Green Warsaw Competition juror. Documentary director and producer, partner at Vision House Productions. Lukasz works with major global TV networks, such as BBC, Discovery Channel, Al Jazeera English, or NHK. He produces series, news and documentaries on current political, cultural and social situation in Poland. In 2017 he directed The Tipping Point – first Polish feature documentary on climate change, awarded at Docs Against Gravity. In the last years he wrote documentaries for BBC World and Al Jazeera, covered Smolensk plane crash story for Al Jazeera English, Euro 2012 for BBC, abortion stories for BNN, gang wars for Discovery UK, prison life in Poland for Channel 5. Right now he directs a new documentary, on Polish politics.

A versatile and multitalented actor, he has several dozen film and stage roles under his belt, along with numerous awards. Simlat starred in major HBO productions and in the movies of recent Silver Bear recipient Małgorzata Szumowska. Simlat performs all male roles in Kobro / Strzemiński: Władysław Strzemiński, Curator, Tsarist Officer, Fritz Haber, Lenin, Executioner, and Viewer.

Mads Brügger, director of the film „ Cold Case Hammarskjöld”. Born in 1972. Dutch journalist, writer, filmmaker, TV show host. Brügger wrote a couple of books and worked with magazines as well as with newspapers. Producer of award-winning radio shows. Host of the critically acclaimed evening TV show “The 11 Hour” and also of the daily news program “Deadline”. One of the creators of the satirical documentary show „Danes for Bush” (2004).

co-director of the film "Land without God". Maedhbh Mc Mahon is an artist, scenographer and costume designer. She studied documentary film at the London Filmmakers Co-Operative and Westminster College. McMahon worked in the costume department on films such as Harry Potter, Star Wars, James Bond, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Troy and many others. In 2005 she completed an MA in St Martins London on the Magdalene Laundry institutions. McMahon joined Farcry Productions in 2006 and has been a partner in its art practice and cultural output since then. Exhibitions include Amygdala solo show at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Forsaken exhibition Dollard House. Mc Mahon is currently working on a textile project on the 100-year history of child abuse in the Artane Boys Band, one of Ireland's most notorious Industrial Schools.

A long-time journalist and film critic of Polish biggest daily "Gazeta Wyborcza" and feminist weekly "Wysokie Obcasy", former editor of the film department of “Dziennik". She wrote, directed and conducted cultural programs in Polish Television. Today he is writing film scripts ("Dark, Almost Night", "Special Characters"), comic books (her “Anastazja” was listed one of the best European Comics of 2017 by Paul Gravett) producing films ("Author Solaris", "Kobro / Strzemiński. A Fantastic Tale”). She is the Chair Woman of the Directors' Guild of Poland.

Writer of the film "Kobro / Strzemiński. A Fantastic Tale". Poland’s most frequently staged playwright, the author of widely discussed Loose Screws and The Suitcase. Her plays were translated into English, German, French, Ukrainian, Czech, Serbian, Croatian, Slovakian, Rumanian, Swedish, Spanish, Russian, and Hebrew. Sikorska-Miszczuk also creates operatic works – she collaborated with Mariusz Treliński on The Dead City, as well as with Andrzej Chyra and Paweł Mykietyn on The Magic Mountain.

Former longtime journalist with the “Przekrój” magazine, where he wrote on art, architecture, and social issues. His articles have appeared in Polish and international papers. A graduate of the cultural anthropology department of the University of Warsaw, he’s in charge of the Museum’s development and communications.

National Geographic Best Photo Competition juror. Cinematographer, screenwriter, feature and documentary director, two-time recipient of the cinematography award at the Gdynia Film Festival and the Bronze Frog at Camerimage, three-time nominee to the Eagles and the Romanian GOPO award. Member of the Polish and European Film Academies. Recipient of numerous documentary awards at festivals in Karlovy Vary, Berlin, Chicago, Leipzig, Nyon, Krakow, Tampere, Tehran, Trento, and elsewhere. His best-known works include “Such a Nice Boy I Gave Birth To”, “Existence”, “User-Friendly Death”, “Till It Hurts”, “Let’s Run Away from Her”, “Declaration of Immortality”, and “Lust Killer”.

Director of the film "The Reformist". Marie has launched two projects alongside her directing work. Her first project Syriatypes tells the stories of Syrian artists and activists that defy the stereotypes of victimhood and war. The second project is a virtual reality experience around contemporary dance in Senegal in collaboration with Afripedia and CPH:LAB, which premiered at the New Museum in New York. Marie worked on the feature documentary The War Show, winner of the Venice Days Award, and recently completed a documentary series for National Danish Television and the BBC about unaccompanied refugee children. The Reformist is Marie's second feature documentary.

The director of "Daymohk". Masha Novikova was born in 1956 in Moscow, USSR. She studied pedagogy at the University of Moscow and later worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature. In Kazachstan she worked as assistant director in a German drama theater. Shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall she came to the Netherlands; since then she has been living and working in Amsterdam. First Masha Novikova worked as an interpreter and Russian teacher. She also worked as a guide in the 'Czar Peter House' in Zaandam.

director of the film "Piano to Zanskar". Michal Sulima is a self-taught filmmaker born in Poland. He began his professional career as a photographer in commercial and fashion sector but quickly moved on to pursue filmmaking. Michal graduated in Photography from University of the Arts London with a short film that shortlisted to the best of the show and made an official selection at the London Short Film Festival, among others. Since then, he has built a growing portfolio of short commercials and moved on to shoot and direct his first feature-length documentary, establishing himself as an up-and-coming cinematographer and filmmaker.

The director of "1989". Graduate of the Humanities Dept. at the University of Warsaw. Since 2005 he collaborates with the TVP Kultura channel, for several years co-worked with Planete Doc Review film festival in Warsaw. Author of many television reportages and television interviews. In 2011, his television program “One Scene” – interviews with accomplished Polish filmmakers, was nominated for the Polish Film Institute Prize and the Grand Press Prize.
