My Unknown Soldier
How does it feel like to become an invader by your own will? How can big politics destroy lives of ordinary people? With the help of already published, as well as unknown archive materials from all over Europe and Russia, the director tells her family story. A couple of years ago she found out that her grand-uncle was one of the Soviet soldiers who occupied Czechoslovakia in 1968. The film touches crucial problems, such as fragmentation of personal and national memory, inherited guilt, interpretation of history, media manipulation, the relationship with nowadays Russia, but also the attitudes of Czechs and Slovaks towards foreigners.
